The Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), Assumption Parish, Nimo, has urged Catholic mothers to uphold genuine love, forgiveness and Christian values while shunning practices contrary to the Catholic faith.
The call was made on Aug. 6 during the parish’s 2026 August Meeting, held under the theme, “Pure Love in Action.”
Addressing the gathering, the Parish Priest and Episcopal Vicar of Nimo Region, Rev. Fr. Shederach Anunwa, described the moral challenges confronting society as a “crisis of morality.” He warned women against participating in native rituals and joining the Ezenwanyi cult, stressing that such practices were incompatible with the Catholic faith.

The Chaplain of Nimo Deanery, Rev. Fr. Mac Ben Obi, described the August Meeting as a period of joy, spiritual renewal and fellowship for Catholic women. He advised members against viewing the annual gathering merely as an avenue for fundraising, noting that active participation promoted peace of mind and relieved stress.
In her welcome address, the CWO President of Assumption Parish, Mrs. Njideka Grace Chidume, thanked God for the successful gathering and prayed for the repose of deceased members and the speedy recovery of those who were ill. She reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to evangelisation, charity and community service.
Chidume urged the newly elected executives to promote spiritual growth, unity, accountability and continuity in leadership, while appealing to members to support the new administration through prayers, commitment and active participation.

The Deanery Organiser, Mrs. Ogechukwu Oraka, who represented the CWO Director, Mrs. Ngozi Dorothy Muo, said the theme called for sincere love expressed through practical acts of kindness. She described motherhood as sacred and stressed the importance of forgiveness, quality family time and raising morally upright children.
Oraka urged mothers to take responsibility for guiding and correcting children, whether their own or those of others, stressing that every child deserved proper moral upbringing. She also encouraged members to cultivate good Christian habits and contribute to good governance by raising responsible children.
Speaking on “Pure Love in Action,” Lady Isineyi Cecilia who is the immediate past Nimo deanery secretary, described pure love as sincere, selfless and unconditional, saying it was best demonstrated through actions rather than words.
She urged Catholic women to show love by helping those in need, forgiving others, speaking the truth, making sacrifices, caring for their families, supporting children’s studies, visiting the sick, feeding the hungry and offering guidance and counselling to those in need.
