The newly deployed Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has formally assumed duty as the 36th Commissioner of Police in the state, with a renewed commitment to strengthening security and deepening collaboration with critical stakeholders.

In his first official engagements after assuming office, CP Oji Ama on August 10, paid a courtesy visit to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 13 Headquarters, Ukpo, AIG Miller Gajere Dantawaye, psc, to formally notify him of his assumption of duty.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the visit was aimed at strengthening strategic coordination, operational synergy and inter-command collaboration under the supervision of the Zone 13 Police Headquarters.
The commissioner also visited the Department of State Services (DSS), Anambra State Command, where he held discussions with the leadership on the need to strengthen intelligence sharing, joint operations and sustained inter-agency cooperation in combating crime, terrorism, criminal activities and other emerging security threats in the state. Continuing his stakeholder engagements, CP Oji Ama visited the traditional ruler of Awka, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Gibson Nwosu, Eze Uzu, at his palace in Awka.

During the visit, the commissioner stressed the importance of community partnership, intelligence-driven policing and collective efforts between the police, traditional institutions and residents in maintaining peace, security and public order in Awka and other parts of the state. CP Oji Ama said his administration would prioritise intelligence-led and preventive policing, community engagement, inter-agency cooperation and rapid response to security threats.

He also assured that the command would discharge its duties with due respect for the fundamental rights of citizens. The commissioner called for continued support and cooperation from traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders and residents, noting that effective policing could only be achieved through active partnership between the police and the people.

He assured Ndi Anambra that the command under his leadership remained committed to protecting lives and property, preventing and detecting crime, maintaining public order and creating a safe and secure environment for all residents.
The commissioner was accompanied during the visits by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Ibrahim Ezekiel; Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Mantu Chong, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Nnamdi Anabike; Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Celestine Umeh; and Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP Usen Omorodion.
