‎A 300-level medical student of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Adiemeka Chisom Rachael, has on Oct 24 emerged winner of the Girl-Child Vice-Chancellor for a Day competition organised under the Young African Girls’ Conference (YAGC).
‎
‎Her emergence followed a rigorous selection process, earning her a unique opportunity to experience university leadership firsthand through leadership training and mentorship from the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha.
‎

‎The initiative is designed to inspire young girls, nurture their leadership abilities and encourage them to pursue their aspirations with confidence.
‎
‎Prof. Omenugha, a strong advocate for girl-child empowerment, described the programme as an avenue for identifying and developing the leadership potential of young girls, preparing them to take up leadership positions in the future.
‎

‎As part of her reward, Chisom received a desktop computer, a refrigerator, branded educational materials and other support provided by partners of the initiative.
‎
‎The programme aligns with the core mission of the Young African Girls’ Conference, which seeks to create opportunities for young girls to acquire knowledge, develop leadership skills and discover their potential to become influential leaders in society.
‎

‎Chisom’s achievement highlights the importance of investing in the education, mentorship and empowerment of girls to enable them to contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities and the nation.
‎
‎The initiative also underscores the role of mentorship and practical leadership exposure in building the confidence and capacity of young women to excel in their chosen fields.
‎
‎Congratulations to Adiemeka Chisom Rachael on this remarkable achievement, which serves as an inspiration to other young girls to pursue excellence and aspire to leadership.
