By Angela Oduche

Residents of Awkuzu and neighbouring communities in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State have commended the management and staff of Comprehensive Medical Centre Awkuzu for their commitment to quality healthcare delivery and effective implementation of the state government’s free delivery initiative.

The initiative, introduced under the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, is aimed at improving access to maternal healthcare and reducing the financial burden on expectant mothers across the state.

The hospital, regarded as a major referral healthcare facility in the area, has continued to witness increased patronage from patients who praised the professionalism and dedication of doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel.

Many residents described the free delivery programme as a major relief for pregnant women and families struggling with the high cost of healthcare services.

During a visit to the facility, patients expressed satisfaction with the quality of treatment and the conducive hospital environment, noting that health workers were attentive and responsive to their needs.

One of the patients, Mrs. Ngozi Okafor, said the medical centre had restored hope to many families seeking affordable and effective healthcare services.

“I am happy with the attention given to me here. The doctors and nurses are caring and always ready to help patients. This hospital is truly serving the people,” she said.

Another resident, Mr. Chinedu Eze, praised the management of the hospital for maintaining cleanliness and ensuring prompt medical attention for patients, describing the free delivery programme as a life-saving intervention for expectant mothers.

Speaking on the hospital’s commitment to quality healthcare services, Dr. Chinedu Ikeajah reaffirmed the resolve of the medical team to continue providing effective and compassionate care to patients.

According to him, the free delivery initiative has encouraged more women to seek proper medical attention during pregnancy and childbirth, thereby reducing health risks for mothers and newborns.

Health workers at the facility pledged to sustain efforts towards saving lives and improving healthcare delivery despite challenges in the sector, urging residents to embrace regular medical checkups and seek professional treatment whenever health concerns arise.

Comprehensive Medical Centre Awkuzu has continued to play a vital role in providing healthcare services to residents within and outside Awkuzu, supporting the healthcare vision of the Anambra State Government.
