The Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, has unveiled plans to digitalize the operations of the Ministry of Information while introducing a comprehensive value reformation initiative aimed at restoring the cultural and moral identity of Ndi Anambra.

Speaking during the radio programme ‘Ask the Commissioner’ on the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Dr. Mefor said the ministry is set to align its operations with modern information management practices.

He explained that although information dissemination and strategic communication remain the ministry’s primary responsibilities, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has expanded its mandate to include value reformation.

According to the commissioner, the governor has directed the ministry to develop a blueprint that will drive ethical and cultural renewal across the state. As part of the initiative, the ministry plans to establish the “Anambra Change Brigade” or “Anambra Change Vanguard,” with ambassadors drawn from secondary schools, the civil service, churches, and markets to promote positive values and social reorientation.

Dr. Mefor noted that many of the cultural values once associated with Ndi Anambra had gradually eroded over time, stressing the need to recover, modernize, and adapt them to contemporary society. He referenced a previous programme known as Anambra Social, which documented 10 core values that have since been neglected, adding that efforts are underway to revive and reposition those ideals for present-day relevance.

The commissioner described Governor Soludo’s security initiative, popularly known as Oso Soludo, as the administration’s most significant achievement so far. According to him, the campaign led to the prosecution of individuals involved in criminal activities, including ritual practices disguised as traditional healing, while forcing many suspected criminals to flee the state.

While acknowledging other developmental strides of the administration, Dr. Mefor emphasized that improved security remains the foundation for economic growth and social stability. He added that the crackdown on crime, criminal idolatry, and other social vices has also made the ministry’s work easier.

He further said that Governor Soludo has continued to serve as the state’s “Chief Information Officer” and moral advocate by consistently encouraging young people to embrace hard work, discipline, and lawful means of livelihood instead of crime.

Dr. Mefor assured that the government would sustain the Oso Soludo initiative to ensure that security remains at its highest level, with the ultimate goal of building a crime-free Anambra State.
He added that the “Change Brigade” campaign is already underway and expressed appreciation to Governor Soludo for the confidence reposed in him to support the administration’s Solution 2.0 agenda.
