Child abuse has become one of the most disturbing social problems facing our society today. Rather than decreasing with modernization and development, reports of child abuse continue to rise in many communities.

Children, who should be protected and nurtured with love and care, are increasingly becoming victims of physical, emotional, sexual, and psychological abuse.

This growing trend is a serious issue that demands urgent attention from parents, schools, communities, and governments.

Factors that contributes the increase in child abuse, includes, Poverty and economic hardship sometimes place stress on families, leading some parents or guardians to become frustrated and violent.

Lack of proper parenting skills, substance abuse, domestic violence, and moral decline in society also contribute to the problem. In some cases, children are neglected because parents are too occupied with work or other activities, leaving them vulnerable to abuse from relatives, neighbors, or strangers.

The effects of child abuse are severe and long-lasting. Abused children often suffer emotional pain, fear, depression, low self-esteem, and difficulty trusting others. Many perform poorly in school and may become withdrawn or aggressive.

If not addressed, the trauma can affect their future relationships and development, and some victims may continue the cycle of abuse in adulthood.

To reduce child abuse, society must take collective action. Parents should be educated on responsible parenting and child care. Schools should create awareness and encourage children to speak up when they experience abuse.

Also Governments should enforce laws protecting children’s rights and ensure offenders are punished accordingly. Religious bodies and community organizations should also participate in promoting child protection and moral values.

The increase rate in child abuse is a threat to the well-being and future of the society. Children are valuable assets and deserve love, care, and protection. Everyone has a role to play in ensuring that every child grows up in a safe and supportive environment.
