Every year on March 20, the global community marks the International Day of Happiness, a day set aside by the United Nations to remind governments and citizens alike that the true progress of any society lies not only in economic growth, but in the happiness and well-being of its people.
Happiness goes beyond personal joy. It reflects the quality of life people live; the opportunities available to them, the peace within their communities, and the confidence they have in a better future.
In Anambra State, the pursuit of happiness is increasingly being driven by purposeful governance and people-centered development.
Under the leadership of Chukwuma Soludo, the state is witnessing reforms aimed at improving the living conditions of Ndi Anambra.
Through his development blueprint, popularly known as the Solution Agenda, the government is prioritizing security, economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and improved social services — all critical pillars for building a happy and productive society.
Road construction, urban renewal, support for businesses, and investments in education and technology are gradually opening new opportunities for citizens. When people feel safe in their communities, when young people can pursue their dreams, and when businesses thrive, the foundation for happiness becomes stronger.
However, happiness is not the responsibility of government alone. Communities and individuals also play an important role. Acts of kindness, unity among neighbours, respect for cultural values, and support for one another help strengthen the social fabric of society.
For Ndi Anambra, this day is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of peace, cooperation, and collective progress. A happy society is one where citizens work together with government to build a state that is prosperous, secure, and inclusive.
As the world celebrates the International Day of Happiness, may the spirit of optimism, unity, and shared prosperity continue to guide the development of Anambra State.
This is because when the people are happy, the state becomes stronger, the future becomes brighter, and development becomes sustainable.
Happy International Day of Happiness.
