Today, April 22, marks the celebration of Earth Day, a special day set aside across the world to remind us of our responsibility to protect the environment and preserve the planet for future generations.

Earth Day is more than a date on the calendar. It is a call to action. It reminds us that the air we breathe, the water we drink, the land we farm, and the trees that give us shade are precious gifts that must be cared for.

Across many communities today, environmental challenges such as flooding, erosion, deforestation, poor waste disposal, pollution, and climate change continue to threaten lives and livelihoods.

These problems show that caring for the Earth is no longer a choice, but a necessity.
Everyone has a role to play. Government must continue to provide policies that protect the environment. Communities must keep their surroundings clean. Individuals must avoid littering, plant trees, reduce waste, and make wise use of natural resources.

Earth Day also reminds us that small actions can make a big difference. Planting a tree, clearing blocked drainage channels, recycling waste, conserving water, and keeping our streets clean are simple steps that can create lasting change.

As we celebrate Earth Day 2026, let us remember that the Earth is our common home. Protecting it today means securing a better tomorrow for ourselves and generations yet unborn.

Happy Earth Day.
