The Parish Priest of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Awka, Rev. Fr. Bernard Anaebonam, has urged fathers to build their homes on a solid foundation of faith in God.
Delivering a sermon, Fr. Anaebonam stressed the importance of spiritual leadership within the family, noting that fathers play a crucial role in shaping the faith life of their households. He explained that genuine faith begins with a deep knowledge of God. According to him, “To have faith, one must first know God, love Him, and ultimately trust in Him.”
The cleric described faith not only as a personal journey but also as a vital requirement for salvation, adding that it serves as the key to eternal life.
Highlighting the sacred responsibility of fatherhood, Fr. Anaebonam emphasized that fathers must align their actions with God’s will in order to lead their families effectively. He further pointed to the Virgin Mary as a model of unwavering faith, encouraging fathers to emulate her total trust in God and inspire their families through steadfast belief.
Addressing the widespread fear and anxiety in society, the priest identified faith as the remedy. “The antidote to fear is trust in God,” he stated.
Fr. Anaebonam also urged fathers to cultivate a close relationship with God, embrace holiness, and trust in His divine plan, noting that such commitment would help build homes rooted in love and raise future generations grounded in faith.
