Civil Servants in Anambra State have intensified sanitation efforts, reflecting the renewed push for cleanliness under Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.
The exercise carried across state’s secretariat on April 1 saw workers actively participating in environmental clean-up activities, clearing waste, tidying office surroundings, taking out unserviced office equipment and supporting broader sanitation enforcement initiatives.
The clean-up effort is part of a wider strategy to institutionalize hygiene within the civil service, thus these coordinated action highlights a shift from passive policy to active participation by government workers thereby making sanitation a daily responsibility within the public sector.
As Governor Soludo has consistently emphasized discipline, efficiency and accountability among state workers, his recent unscheduled visit to the state’s secretariat reinforced this stance as he assessed self performance and demanded higher standards across ministries.
The involvement of workers in sanitation exercise aligns with this broader agenda which seeks to build a responsive and responsible civil service.
In a reaction, Comrade Emeka Nweke a staff of Ministry of Industry highlighted that cleanliness is next to godliness and enjoined fellow workers to ensure a clean environment to align with Mr. Governor’s vision of a clean and healthy Anambra.
Comrade Kennedy Aniedozie, a staff of Ministry of Environment commended the HOS for propagating the exercise, describing her as an environmental enthusiast while she served as Permanent Secretary in the ministry.
He emphasized that sanitation is a daily routine and encouraged every civil servant and Ndi Anambra to internalize the culture of clean, green and sustainable Anambra.
