The Anambra Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism, Mr. Don Onyenji, has congratulated the Singspiration Chorale from Onitsha for winning the Asiwaju of Remo Christians Choir Festival 2025 and securing a prize of Five Million Naira.
He said that the Solution government is committed to supporting the creative industry, allowing it to flourish and bring joy to the people while attracting investment to the state. “This will enhance entertainment in the state and turn it into a destination hub rather than just a departure point,” he remarked.
The Commissioner expressed his sentiments while receiving a delegation from the Singspiration Chorale at his office in Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.
“Your achievement is a significant accomplishment, and it appears you have been working diligently. We enjoyed your performance during the last Anambra Christmas Carol and Praises, and now you have gone national. You were like angels on earth, and the sky is just the beginning for you—so keep it up.

“We want Anambra to remain at the forefront of the creative industry because when discussing entertainment in Nigeria, you cannot overlook the champions from Anambra, whether in music, acting, fine arts, fashion, and more. Recently, Governor Chukwuma Soludo hosted the grand opening of the Solution Fun City and various mega shows in Awka, which are significant events for promoting the state. Many of you who are excelling in various sectors are also showcasing the state to the world,” he noted.
Amb. Joshua Ekeh, the Executive Director of Singspiration Chorale, said that they were the only choir from the Southeast to participate in the competition held on July 6, at the Abraham Tabernacle in Sagamu, Ogun State. He described the competition as a remarkable experience, which they entered following an audition.
“This is the fourth edition of the Asiwaju of Remo Christians Festival. To qualify, we presented an audition and were among seven choirs that earned a spot in the competition; the host choir and the previous year’s champion automatically qualified, bringing the total to nine participating choirs.
“The competition was divided into two segments: chant/hymn and classical/African piece. As the seventh choir to perform, we carefully observed the other groups, preparing ourselves to win the competition. After our rendition in the first segment, the audience was impressed and eager to see our second performance.
“Although the competition was rigorous and engaging, we are thrilled to emerge as champions and proud to represent not only ourselves and our state but the entire Southeast,” he concluded.
