BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION: GROUP HONOUR FOUNDER QUEEN-TOVAH CARES FOUNDATION INT’L

The Umechiukwu Kindred, Ngene Village, which is the maternal home of Rtd. Air Commodore Ify Udoka-Menuba, husband to Princess Dr Jessie Ifeoma Udoka-Menuba, Founder, Queen-Tovah Cares Foundation Int’l, and the Royal Golden Boys both in Amawbia, Awka South LGA, Anambra State have honored  the Princess on her birthday celebration for impacting positively on humanity.

The Foundation is one with global outreach that looks toward the plights of the downtrodden, the less privileged and is not politically motivated. 

Princess Udoka-Menuba is a bridge builder not minding the ethnicity and religion.

Celebrating the icon at Desire Hotel Agu Awka on Oct. 12,  Iyom Egoeru Obiechina, said that the Princess is a good motivator, very passionate, lover of truth, and a lioness with a heart of gold.

She noted that the Princess is a mother general, a great achiever and an Amazon, as well as a blessing to humanity, praying that she will live long to be celebrated, urging others to emulate her.

Mr Louis Ozoekwe, Chairman of the occasion and one of the Coordinators of Royal Golden Boys; the League of Male Gender with no age restriction, poised to give to humanity, uphold the neighborhood principle and serve as watchdogs to government and public office holders for them to act within the tenet of their portfolio, said that he was overjoyed with the celebration likewise others.

He acknowledged that the Princess deserved to be celebrated looking at what she has done and still doing globally in the areas of human capital and community development, praying that God will continue to bless, and replenish her.

Jonathan Chigozie Ezeoke, aka MC Reallegacy, said, “I’m happy for the celebration, It is a testament that the Princess is doing well. I pray that someday, I will grow to the level of celebrating her myself.

“Right from when she picked me up as a ‘motherless adult’,  she has been there for me and had never ceased attending to a commoner like me. Let’s emulate from her good deeds and live a sincere life.”

He wished her long healthy life, noting that he has not seen a replacement.

One of her beneficiaries, Mrs Callista Okonkwo said,”We are proud of her for her philanthropy and benevolence. I’m a living witness of what the Princess is positively doing on people’s lives irrespective of race and religion.

She prayed God to shower on Princess the grace and resources to continue the good work she is doing.

PUPILS, PG, HAIL SOLUDO, AS MORE SCHOOLS, COMMUNITIES GET SOLAR POWERED BOREHOLE

The President General of Okpoko Community in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra sttate, Chief Francis Enemuo, has lauded the Soludo- led administration, for providing solar powered boreholes and toilet facilities to their schools.

Speaking during the technical handover of the projects by the state Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Mr Julius Chukwuemeka, at Okpoko Community Primary School III, Okpoko Community School 5 and 6, and at Obife secretariat premises, the president general of the town, Mr. Ezenwa Udoka, expressed their satisfaction with the good works Governor Soludo has been doing in Okpoko Community since the inception of his administration.

These, they said, range from good roads network to constant power supply (solar), pipe borne water, free education and lot’s more.

He further promised, on behalf of Okpoko Community, to be solidly behind his administration especially during the governorship election to make sure that his second tenure is achieved.

On his part, the Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, who was represented by the Anambra North Senatorial zone Team leader on Water Rehabilitation projects, Mr Onyedibe Okechukwu, charged the community and concerned schools to guide the facilities generously, as the government spent much on those projects to ensure that Okpoko enjoys the dividend of good governance.

In their separate remarks, the headmistress of the schools appreciated the state government for meeting their needs as water and toilet facility have been their major challenge in the school, while promising that they will make every thing possible to maintain the facilities.

Also speaking, the contractor handling the projects, El-Bukelz Nigerian Limited, thanked the president general of the town and the headmistress for giving him maximum support when executing the projects even as he thanked the state government for giving him the opportunity to add his quota for the good of Ndi Anambra.

Inspection of the various projects, melodious songs by the pupils from Okpoko Community School 5 and 6, signing of relevant papers formed the high points of the event.

FEGGE SPECIALIST HOSPITAL WILL BE COMMISSIONED SOON—SAYS ANAMBRA HEALTH COMMISSIONER

The Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike has said that Gov. Chukwuma Soludo would soon commission the Fegge Specialist Hospital built by his administration.

Dr. Obidike explained that the hospital was awarded to Crystal Dove Construction Company on May 20, 2024 and is 90 per cent completion but let the picture of this hospital tell the remaining story.

“It may interest you to know that this highly dense populated Onitsha South Local Government do not have a single General hospital and it is among the 5 Local Government Gov. Soludo’s administration is constructing new hospitals.’’

The Commissioner said this during his unscheduled visit at the Fegge Specialist construction site.

According to him, the government of Gov. Soludo do not joke in its mandate of ensuring that the public access care and enjoy affordable healthcare service delivery.   

“I must commend the contractor for their exceptional project management skills, trying to deliver our project ahead of schedule and exceeding our expectations.

“Before the governor completes second term in office, Anambra will be the medical tourism state. As a state, our goal is to achieve a universal health coverage for all and which means that anywhere you find yourself, there must be functional healthcare facility that is accessible and affordable to the people.”

He noted that all the necessary equipment have been approved by Mr. Governor, recruitment of healthcare workers has also been secured.

UNICEF, NOA ORGANISE ZONAL MEDIA ORIENTATION AHEAD OF INTERGRATED MEASLES CAMPAIGN

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), National Orientation Agency (NOA) have held a one-day zonal media orientation for states within the UNICEF Enugu Field Office implementing the forthcoming Intergrated Measles Campaign.

These States include: Anambra, Benue, Cross River, Enugu and Kogi States respectively. 

The event, held at Dannic Hotel, Enugu was used to sensitize Media organisations from the aforementioned States on their key roles and importance in the forthcoming Measles vaccination Campaign in their respective states. 

Its objectives were to strengthen partnership toward success of the campaign, define collectively dissemination targets, unite on key messages to disseminate, and articulate on how to respond to rumors and disinformation. 

The UNICEF Social and Behavioural Change (SBC) Specialist, Dr Hilary Ozoh facilitated discussions on each State’s level of preparedness of the forthcoming Measles vaccination campaign, visualising each State’s target population and quantity of vaccines received. 

Anambra State with a number of 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs), and 330 wards, received 1,227,133 doses of Measles vaccine, targeting a population of 1,168,679 eligible children for the vaccination campaign. 

Benue State with a number of 23 LGAs, and 227 wards, received 1,282,340 doses of vaccine with a target population of 1,221,107 eligible children for the Measles campaign. 

Cross River State with a number of 18 LGAs and 196 wards, received 801,000 doses of Measles vaccine with a target population of 762,102 eligible children for the vaccination. 

Enugu State with a number of 17 LGAs and 291 wards, received 853,000 doses of the Measles vaccine with a target population of 942,707 eligible children. 

Kogi State with a number of 21 LGAs, and 239 wards received 801,800 doses of Measles vaccine with a target population of 948,839 eligible children. 

The State Health Educators (SHEs) from the respective States who were also present at the meeting shared their activities carried out to ensure no eligible child of nine to 59 months was missed during the vaccination exercise in their states. 

The Anambra SHE, Mrs Uju Onwuegbuzina noted that Anambra has held her one-day Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilization (ACSM) planning meeting and its State Level Training of Trainers (STOT) for the exercise. 

She gave an insight on security compromised LGAs of the State such as: Ihiala, Nnewi South, Orumba South and Ogbaru LGAs, noting some modalities to be put in place to ensure that no eligible child was missed from the areas. 

Mrs Onwuegbuzina noted that the State is working to ensure that they achieve the 95 per cent coverage target in the forthcoming Measles vaccination campaign to hold across all LGAs of the State in October 2024. 

Also present at the meeting were the State Immunization Officers (SIOs) from the implementing states within the UNICEF Enugu Field Office and other supporting partners: WHO, and AFNET.

Other sessions held during the meeting include: overview of the Intergrated Supplementary Immunization Activities (SIAs), role of the media, key messages/actions by the media, and media action plan/commitments for the upcoming immunization activities.

Anambra Assembly Calls for Construction of Pedestrian Bridge at Total Filing Station Junction Ihiala

Anambra State House of Assembly has called on Governor Charles Soludo to direct the Commissioner for Works to facilitate the construction of pedestrian bridge at Total Filing station junction, Ihiala town.

The resolution was sequel to a motion sponsored by the member representing Ihiala 1 constiuency, Mr. Jude Ngobili and seconded by Mr. Golden Iloh representing Ihiala 11 constituency during plenary on October 17.

The Speaker of the House, Mr. Somtochukwu Udeze who presided over the plenary had moved for the resolution of the House while the lawmakers unanimously adopted it through voice votes.

Dwelling on the motion, Mr. Jude Ngobili expressed worry about the alarming rate at which accident occur at the junction, which frequently results in fatalities and various degrees of accident casualties.

He was optimistic that a pedestrian bridge across the area would significantly lower the number of accident.

“Further convinced that if constructed, the pedestrian bridge will increase accessibility for everyone, including the disabled and provide safer crossing.

“Whereas the junction, one of the busiest bus stops on the Onitsha-Owerri road is located at the Total filing station junction, Ihiala town.

“Concerned that a large number of pedestrians, including children and the elderly, cross the road everyday.

“Cognizant that the rate of vehicle acceleration at the spot is quite high”, Ngobili stressed.

Speaking in favour of the motion, Mr. Noble Igwe representing Ogbaru 1 constiuency, Mr. Ikenna Ofodeme representing Ekwusigo constituency, Mr. Jude Umennajiego representing Onitsha South 11 constituency, Mr. John-Mark Ikwunne representing Awka North and Mr. Tony Muobike representing Aguata 11 constituency described the motion as apt.

The lawmakers added that the construction of the pedestrian bridge at the junction would save the lives of Ndi Anambra, explaining that the junction leads to different communities and states in the South East and some South South states. (MOI)
