The Bishop of Ekwulobia Catholic Diocese, His Eminence Peter Ebere Cardinal Okpaleke, has called on Christians to pursue holy living, emphasizing that God’s true temple is not a magnificent physical structure but a community of faithful and righteous believers.
Cardinal Okpaleke made the call during his homily at the solemn dedication of St. Mary Mother of God Catholic Church, Ufuma, on August 2.
Addressing the congregation, the Cardinal explained that although church buildings are sacred places of worship, God’s greatest dwelling place is in the lives of people who remain holy and faithful to Him.
He observed that a magnificent church building without holy Christians is “like a beautiful shell without life,” urging the faithful to become living stones in God’s spiritual house through lives of faith, obedience, and righteousness.
Drawing inspiration from the Scriptures, Cardinal Okpaleke encouraged worshippers to allow God to shape and transform them into a spiritual community worthy of His presence, reminding them that genuine Christian living is the foundation of a vibrant Church.
