The Managing Director of Chinua Achebe International Cargo Airport (CAICA), Mr. Emeka Martins Nwafor, has announced that the airport will imminently launch full cargo services.
Speaking at a press conference held in the VIP lounge, Nwafor said that cargo delivery was among the airport’s core inaugural services and that comprehensive preparations are finalized to operationalize the facility before year‑end.
During an exclusive interview with journalists, the MD outlined a series of milestone events scheduled to coincide with the launch, including a trade‑fair exhibition, Christmas carol celebrations, and a gala night. These events, set to run from 9 December to 14 December, aim to apprise the public and prospective clients of the airport’s state‑of‑the‑art cargo infrastructure and ancillary services.
Nwafor further elaborated that CAICA is positioned as the second‑largest airport in Nigeria, surpassed only by Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos. The facility boasts a 3.7 km runway, 7.5 km of side roads, advanced Instrument Landing Systems (ILS), and Digital Distance Measuring Equipment (DME), among other modern navigational aids.
“The influx of private jets from affluent individuals in Anambra underscores the state’s prominence in aviation and signals confidence in the region’s economic potential,” Nwafor added, emphasizing that the airport will serve as a catalyst for trade and commerce in the Southeast geopolitical zone.
