The ongoing infrastructure transformation agenda of the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, continues to gain traction as the leadership of Bridge Head Market, Onitsha, embarks on key projects aimed at improving security and ease of doing business.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the market, Hon. Chinedu Ezekwike (Akwaeke), said that a new entrance gate with a security house has been installed at the Tools Mainline leading to Niger Street by Ogbosisi UPJA, to strengthen security and safeguard traders.
According to him, the project aligns with the state government’s vision of creating a secure and business-friendly environment across markets in Anambra.

“We are building all these to checkmate the activities of criminals and also construct the road for easy access for the traders,” Ezekwike said.
In furtherance of this objective, the market administration has also commenced the construction of a strategic access road linking the market through Niger Street by Ogbosisi UPJA Union.
The development is expected to significantly ease movement, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance commercial activities within the area.
The Stakeholders note that the initiative complements the ongoing efforts of the Soludo administration in upgrading infrastructure, particularly in commercial hubs, to boost economic growth and improve the livelihoods of Ndi Anambra.
Traders in the market have expressed satisfaction with the projects, describing them as timely interventions that will not only improve security but also attract more customers and facilitate the smooth movement of goods.
Although details of the project cost were not made public, the chairman assured that the projects are being executed with a high level of accountability and in the best interest of traders.
He further hinted at more developmental projects in the pipeline, aimed at repositioning Bridge Head Market as a modern and secure trading hub in line with the state government’s transformation agenda.
Bridge Head Market remains one of the largest and most vibrant markets in the South-East, playing a critical role in commerce and trade within Anambra State and beyond.
