The Anambra State Chapter of the Borehole Drillers Association of Nigeria (BODAN) has sought collaboration with the Ministry of Power and Water Resources to promote sustainable water resource management and enhance professional standards in the borehole drilling sector.
The association made the appeal during a familiarization visit to the Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr. Casmir Chinenye Agummadu, at his office in Awka on June 19.

Speaking on behalf of the association, its Chairman, Sir Solomon Edet, thanked the commissioner for receiving the delegation and emphasized the need for stronger partnership between the association and the government. He noted that BODAN was established to promote best practices in borehole drilling, prevent environmental degradation, and support government efforts aimed at making Anambra a livable and smart state.
Edet stated that the association regularly organizes training programmes for its members to improve their technical capacity and expose them to modern drilling technologies. He added that BODAN has also partnered with security agencies to tackle illegal and unprofessional drilling activities.
Responding, Engr. Agummadu welcomed the delegation and assured them of the ministry’s readiness to work with the association in advancing the state’s water sector. He stressed that sustainable development can only be achieved through collective effort and urged members to uphold professionalism and industry best practices.
The commissioner further advised the association to maintain standards while creating opportunities for young engineers and emerging professionals to develop their skills and contribute meaningfully to the sector.
Also speaking, the Vice President of the association, Dr. Uche Alogwu, who is also the traditional ruler of Umuoka in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, expressed appreciation to the commissioner for granting the delegation audience and reaffirmed the association’s commitment to supporting effective water resource management in Anambra State.
