The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye, on Sept. 6, made his maiden pastoral visit to St. Augustine Catholic Parish, Ifite Oraifite, where he confirmed 32 faithful.
The confirmed faithful included children and adults who received the Sacrament of Confirmation during the visit.
The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Wilfred Ogudimma, led parishioners in welcoming the bishop, who also inspected the ongoing parish church project.

During the inspection, Okoye commended the parishioners for their commitment and sacrifices toward the completion of the project.
In his homily, the bishop urged the faithful to remain committed to their Christian responsibilities and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
He said Christian discipleship required sacrifice, obedience and commitment, urging the faithful to remain steadfast in their service to God and the Church.
Bishop Okoye expressed appreciation to the parishioners for their warm reception and contributions to the development of the parish.
He assured them of his prayers and encouraged them to remain committed to the growth of the parish.
The visit attracted personalities from public service, traditional leadership, business and the wider community, including Sly Ezeokenwa, National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA); Hon. Ikenna Sylvester Ofodeme, Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly and member representing Ekwusigo Constituency, who chaired the occasion; and Dr. Ebuka Onunkwo, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Seahorse Lubricants Industries Ltd., among others.
