The Bishop on the Niger, Rt. Rev. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo, has urged Christians to demonstrate genuine love for God by showing kindness, concern and love to others.
Nwokolo gave the charge on Sept. 6 at the Confirmation and Admission Service held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Omagba Phase II, Onitsha.
He said Christian faith should be reflected in believers’ daily relationships and interactions with others.

“If you love God but don’t love your fellow man, you deceive yourself,” the Bishop said, stressing that love should be demonstrated through words, actions and conduct.
He said spiritual gifts and religious accomplishments could not substitute for genuine love, noting that religious activities without love for others were inconsistent with Christian teachings.
Nwokolo urged Christians to demonstrate the values they profess through their conduct and relationships with others.

He particularly charged the newly confirmed and admitted members of various church organisations to devote their time, strength and abilities to the service of God and the church.
The Bishop also urged members of the congregation to be sincere in their giving, stressing that the value of an offering was not determined by its size but by the disposition of the giver.
“It is not about the size, but the heart that gives,” he said.
Nwokolo, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Elsie Nonyelum Nwokolo, prayed for the newly confirmed and admitted members and urged them to remain committed to their faith and responsibilities in the church.
