The newly appointed Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Barr. Vin Ezeaka, has officially assumed office with a solemn prayer session, followed by a meeting with staff members of the ministry.

The gathering, held today, May 20, marked the beginning of a new administration phase focused on unity, dedication and collective commitment required to advance the ministry objectives and improve service delivery.

Addressing staff shortly after the prayer session, Commissioner Ezeaka highlighted the ministry mandate to deepen the core principle of the ‘Solution Agenda’ on building a liveable and prosperous homeland.
He, then, called for cooperation and teamwork among staff of the ministry, assuring them of an open-door policy throughout his tenure in office.

The commissioner, however, cautioned against abuse of the privilege, noting that while his office would remain accessible, discipline and professionalism must be maintained.

He also pledged to improve the welfare of workers in the ministry and urged staff to give their best in the discharge of their duties, stressing that lateness, negligence and absenteeism from duty would not be tolerated.
Earlier in a Homily, Rev. Fr. Hyginus Aghaulo of St. Michael Catholic Church, Amakwa Ozubulu advised workers to adhere to the teachings of St. Paul from the day reading, to always comport themselves properly in their daily dealings.

The cleric further urged staff to uphold the dignity of labour by discharging their duties with high moral standards, dedication, and diligence while discouraging the habit of incessant criticism of the government in power.
Also, the Supervisory Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, Dr. Nwabufo Nwankwo welcomed the new commissioner, also described him as a well accomplished community leader that will bring his wealth of experience to bear in advancing governance at the local government and community level.
