The Head of Department of Education and Social Welfare Development, Awka South Local Government Area(LGA), Mrs. Lilian Ejy-Akwuba, has called on staff of the department to align with the vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, by demonstrating greater commitment to effective and efficient service delivery.
Mrs. Ejy-Akwuba made the call during an interactive meeting with staff members held on July 28, where she stressed that productivity in the public service depends largely on the dedication, discipline and commitment of workers.
She noted that the department occupies a strategic position in advancing education and social welfare at the grassroots, urging employees to see themselves as key contributors to the development of the local government and the state.

The head of department expressed concern over what she described as a lack of commitment by some staff members, warning that negligence and poor work ethics undermine the department’s effectiveness and would no longer be tolerated.
She emphasized that every employee must justify his or her presence in the office through diligence, professionalism and meaningful contributions toward achieving the department’s mandate.
Mrs. Ejy-Akwuba, however, clarified that staff members currently on approved leave should not be concerned about attendance, as their absence had been duly authorized.

She encouraged workers to uphold the values of punctuality, teamwork, accountability and discipline, describing them as essential qualities for building a productive and results oriented workforce.
The interactive session ended on a positive note, with members of staff reaffirming their commitment to improve their performance and contribute more effectively to the advancement of education and social welfare services in Awka South LGA.
