The Anglican women’s Ministry of Awka Diocese has joined Christians worldwide to commemorate the feast of the Annunication of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Describing it as a reminder of obedience, humility and faith in God’s divine purpose in her address, the President Women’s Ministry, Province of the Niger and Diocese of Awka, Dr Martha Chioma Ibezim on the occasion of the Annunciation said the day marks when Angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would give birth to Jesus Christ.
She encouraged Christian women to emulate the virtues of the blessed Virgin Mary, especially her obedience and total trust in God.
The president also commended members for their commitment to church activities and urged them to remain prayerful.
Speaking on the importance of the celebration, the Arch Deacon Awka Arch deaconry and the resident Priest, All Saints Anglican Church Awka, Ven David Ezeobi, said that Mary played a vital role in the history of salvation as the Mother of Jesus Christ.
He noted that through her faith God showed that nothing is impossible, adding that her life remains an example for Christians to trust in God’s plan.
Also speaking, the Vice President of Awka Arch deaconry women, Mrs Ifeoma Ezeobi described the yearly commemoration as very important and encouraged women to remain steadfast in their faith and trust God in all situations.
