The Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) has reiterated the state government’s directive prohibiting graduation ceremonies, graduation levies and Christmas parties in all public primary and junior secondary schools.

The directive was contained in a circular issued by the Executive Chairman of ASUBEB, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, and addressed to Officers-in-Charge of Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs), Education Secretaries, Head Teachers of Primary Schools and Principals of Junior Secondary Schools.

The circular, dated July 10, directed school heads to ensure strict compliance by refraining from organising graduation ceremonies, collecting graduation levies, holding Christmas parties or engaging in any related activity that contravenes the government’s policy.

It also directed Officers-in-Charge of LGEAs and Education Secretaries to immediately circulate the directive to all schools within their jurisdictions and closely monitor compliance.

The board warned that any school or official found to have violated the directive would face appropriate administrative sanctions.

Anyadiegwu urged stakeholders in the basic education sector to comply fully with the directive, reaffirming the board’s commitment to promoting discipline, maintaining uniform standards and supporting the Anambra State Government’s ongoing reforms in the basic education sector.
