The Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) has commenced the second quarter registration of the Global Fund Enrollment exercise across all 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
The ongoing enrollment aims to expand access to quality and affordable healthcare services, particularly for individuals living with HIV and Tuberculosis (TB). In a major boost, eligible enrollees can now register their spouses and children as dependents, enabling entire families to benefit from comprehensive healthcare services free of charge under the scheme.
As part of the enrollment requirements, residents are expected to present their National Identification Number (NIN), which is essential for successful registration into the program.
The Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of ASHIA, Dr. Ezeka Augustine Uwaeme, highlighted the importance of the initiative, describing it as a strategic intervention to improve public health outcomes and reduce the financial burden of healthcare on residents. He noted that, in addition to free HIV and TB treatment, the program also offers general medical checkups and diagnostic services at no cost.
Dr. Ezeka urged Ndi Anambra to take full advantage of the opportunity by enrolling in the scheme, emphasizing that early detection through routine checkups plays a vital role in maintaining good health and preventing serious complications.
He also expressed appreciation to the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for his unwavering commitment to strengthening the healthcare system. According to him, the governor’s support has made it possible for Anambra State to be among the selected states benefiting from the Global Fund initiative.
ASHIA remains committed to ensuring accessible, equitable, and quality healthcare for all and encourages residents to participate actively in the ongoing enrollment exercise.
