The Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr. Ezeka Augustine Uwaeme, has held an interactive meeting with members of the Health Services, Standards and Quality Control (HSSQC) Department of the Agency as part of his ongoing familiarization engagements with departments within ASHIA.
The meeting, which was held on May 7, at the ASHIA office in Awka, provided an opportunity for the Executive Secretary to engage directly with staff members, understand the operations of the department, and discuss ways of strengthening service delivery within the Agency.

Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Ezeka said that the engagement was aimed at fostering collaboration, understanding the specific responsibilities of the department, identifying existing challenges, and receiving constructive suggestions that would help improve the overall performance of the Agency.
He noted that the Health Services, Standards and Quality Control Department plays a vital role in ensuring that healthcare services provided under the ASHIA scheme meet acceptable standards and align with the Agency’s commitment to quality healthcare delivery for Ndi Anambra.
Dr. Ezeka encouraged staff members to remain committed to professionalism, teamwork, and innovation, while assuring them of his readiness to work closely with every department to improve efficiency and strengthen the Agency’s operations.
The Head of Department, Dr. Okechi Adaeke Soughtout, on behalf of the staff, congratulated Dr. Ezeka on his appointment as Executive Secretary of ASHIA and appreciated him for creating time to interact with the department.
She gave an overview of the responsibilities of the department, highlighting its role in monitoring healthcare providers, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards, maintaining quality assurance processes, and supporting the effective implementation of health insurance services across the state.
Also speaking during the meeting, Dr. Ngozi Ifediora outlined some of the challenges facing the department, including operational and logistical concerns affecting the smooth execution of their duties. She expressed optimism that the new leadership would address the identified issues and further strengthen the department for improved service delivery.
The meeting also featured contributions from other staff members who shared ideas, recommendations, and observations geared toward improving departmental effectiveness and enhancing the quality of healthcare services provided to ASHIA enrollees across Anambra State.
