ARTMA OFFERS CASH REWARDS TO WHISTLEBLOWERS TO CURB ONE-WAY DRIVING

By MaryAnn Chukwuma

The Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) has introduced a whistleblower reward scheme offering a minimum of ₦20,000 for verified reports that lead to the impoundment of vehicles involved in one-way driving and other dangerous traffic violations.

The agency announced the initiative in a public awareness message issued on July 19, calling on residents to support efforts to improve road safety by reporting traffic offenders on dual carriageways across the state.

Under the scheme, members of the public are expected to record clear video evidence of offending vehicles, ensuring that the registration number is visible, and forward the footage via WhatsApp to 08063159282 for verification.

ARTMA said verified reports that result in the impoundment of offending vehicles would qualify whistleblowers for a minimum cash reward of ₦20,000.

The agency assured residents that the identities of whistleblowers would be treated with strict confidentiality, while all credible reports would be thoroughly verified before any enforcement action is taken.

It said the initiative was aimed at discouraging reckless driving, particularly one-way traffic violations, which continue to endanger the lives of motorists, passengers and pedestrians.

ARTMA urged Ndi Anambra to remain vigilant and report traffic offenders, stressing that public participation was vital to promoting road safety and ensuring greater compliance with traffic regulations.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to effective traffic management and safer roads, urging residents to embrace its campaign message: “See it. Video it. Report it. Earn a reward.”
