The Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) has intensified its road safety awareness campaign, urging motorists, commercial transport operators and other road users to comply with traffic regulations to protect lives, ensuring the smooth flow of traffic across the state.
The road safety message, shared on the Facebook page of the Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, underscores the Soludo administration’s commitment to building a safer, more organized and efficient transportation system across the state.

ARTMA noted that enforcement against traffic violations such as one-way driving, indiscriminate parking, speeding and disregard for traffic signs and signals has been strengthened to reduce accidents and traffic congestion.
The agency advised motorists to obey traffic lights and road signs, especially at major intersections and on newly constructed roads and flyovers, warning against one-way driving, describing the practice as a major threat to road safety.
Road users were urged to cooperate with ARTMA officers, obey lawful directives, and make use of designated parking spaces to avoid obstructing roads and pedestrian walkways.

ARTMA stressed the need to observe speed limits, avoid distractions such as mobile phone use while driving and ensure vehicles are roadworthy through regular maintenance of brakes, tyres, lights and steering systems.
Motorists were encouraged to carry essential safety equipment, including reflective warning triangles and to exercise caution around schools, markets, places of worshi and residential areas where pedestrian activity is high.
The agency advised members of the public to deal only with properly identified ARTMA personnel and report suspected impersonators to the appropriate authorities.
With ongoing improvements in road infrastructure across the state, ARTMA urged drivers to pay attention to lane markings, directional signs and traffic signals, while remaining patient and avoiding reckless overtaking during peak3 traffic periods.
Reaffirming its commitment to safer roads, the agency called on all road users to adopt responsible road-use practices and support efforts aimed at improving traffic management and public safety across Anambra State.
