The Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) has commenced its mid-year maintenance and overhaul of traffic lights across the state as part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic flow, enhance road safety and ensure the efficient operation of signalised intersections.

The development was disclosed by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of ARTMA, Engr. Emeka Okonkwo, in a post shared on his official Facebook page on June 27, saying the maintenance exercise is aimed at restoring the optimal performance of traffic control systems, easing congestion and promoting safer road use for motorists, pedestrians and other road users.

ARTMA expressed appreciation to residents and motorists for their valuable feedback on the condition of traffic lights in different parts of the state, noting that the reports have been instrumental in identifying locations requiring urgent attention.

The agency urged members of the public to continue supporting its efforts by reporting traffic lights experiencing frequent downtime, faulty signal calibration, excessive waiting times at intersections or any other malfunction affecting the efficiency of the traffic signal system.

According to ARTMA, sustained collaboration with road users will enable the agency to identify faults more quickly, respond promptly and further improve traffic management across the state.

The agency encouraged residents to report any observed faults through its official communication channels, including its dedicated phone line, +234 814 422 8836.

ARTMA reaffirmed its commitment to building a safer, smarter, and more efficient road transport system for all road users in Anambra State.
