The Nigerian Army has honoured the Mayor of Onitsha North Local Government Area, Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora, for his strong commitment to improving security and protecting residents of the commercial city.
The recognition was presented during a courtesy visit to the Mayor’s office by the Commander of the 302 Artillery Regiment, Col. B.M. Yakubu, who led a delegation of officers to the council headquarters.
During the visit, Col. Yakubu presented an award plaque to Mayor Nwora in appreciation of his proactive leadership and consistent collaboration with security agencies to combat criminal activities within the local government area.

Describing the Mayor as “one of the most active local government leaders in the state,” the Army Commander praised Nwora for his dedication to public safety and his readiness to support security operations whenever the need arises.
“We recognize leaders who take security seriously. Hon. Nwora has shown strong commitment in working with the Army and other security agencies to ensure peace and stability in Onitsha North,” Col. Yakubu said.
Mayor Nwora, while receiving the plaque, expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Army for the honour and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and order in the council area.
“Security is everyone’s responsibility. As a local government, we will continue to work closely with all security agencies to ensure that our people live and do business in a safe environment.”
The award highlights the Mayor’s dedication to strengthening security and protecting residents in the busy commercial city.
