ARCHBISHOP IBEZIM CONFIRMS OVER 600, ADMITS 200 WOMEN, 100 GIRLS INTO CHURCH GROUPS

The Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim, has confirmed more than 600 candidates and admitted 200 women and 100 girls into the Mothers’ Union and Girls Guild respectively.

Ibezim performed the confirmation and admission rites during a special service at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra, on Aug. 7.

The candidates were drawn from nine parishes in the Diocese of Awka.

In his sermon, Ibezim urged the newly confirmed candidates to go beyond the mere profession of faith and remain steadfast in their Christian convictions in the face of distractions and challenges.

He said lack of faith could worsen difficult situations and lead individuals into costly mistakes, stressing that meaningful growth and development required reliance on divine guidance.

The Archbishop also charged mothers to remain committed to prayer and serve as agents of positive change and revival in their families and communities.

He urged them to support the growth of their families and marriages through active participation in Christian teachings and adherence to the Word of God.

Ibezim further encouraged the newly confirmed members to live exemplary lives, remain firm in faith and bear positive fruits in their generation.

The parishes represented at the service included St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Amawbia; St. Mark’s Parish, Enugwu-Agidi; St. Augustine’s Parish, Amawbia; St. Luke’s Parish, Amawbia; Church of Resurrection, Amawbia; Church of Transfiguration, Amawbia; Church of Ascension, Amawbia; St. Paul’s Parish, Enugwu-Agidi; and St. Matthias Parish, Umuokpu-Awka.

The service featured prayers, worship and thanksgiving, with the Archbishop urging the newly confirmed and admitted members to remain steadfast in faith and committed to the service of God and humanity.
