The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Barr. Ezeokenwa Sly (Jr) led family members, political associates, and well-wishers in a Memorial Mass held in honour of his late father, Chief Hon. Sylvester Anyarue Chukwuma Ezeokenwa, who passed away on May 15, 2025.

The service took place at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Housing Estate, Fegge, Onitsha, where mourners gathered in prayer and reflection for the peaceful repose of the departed patriarch. He was remembered for his enduring contributions to community development and grassroots politics.
Late Chief Sylvester Ezeokenwa was widely respected as a distinguished community leader and committed peacemaker whose life reflected service, sacrifice, and dedication to humanity. As the pioneer APGA Chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Area and a founding member of the party, he played a key role in strengthening its structures at the grassroots and promoting its ideals.

Beyond partisan politics, he served as a cabinet member of the Umuchu Kingdom, where his influence in fostering peace, unity, and development earned him widespread admiration.

Speaking after the Mass, Chief Ezeokenwa reflected on his father’s legacy, describing him as a man of discipline, wisdom, humility, and exceptional fatherly guidance. He thanked all who joined the family in prayer and remembrance, noting that the occasion was both a moment of mourning and a celebration of a life well lived.
The gathering underscored the lasting influence of Late Chief Sylvester Ezeokenwa, whose contributions to political and communal life continue to resonate across Anambra State and beyond.
