The Mayor of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, has revealed Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s ambitious plan to transform the Nkwo Triangle axis into an ultramodern transport hub, describing the initiative as part of the development wave already reshaping the commercial city.
Speaking during a live interview on Choice FM on Monday, June 15, 2026, Hon. Anazodo said Governor Soludo has directed the local government to clear and prepare the Ugwuakpatiozu area while engaging traders and residents around the Triangle to relocate to the new site, paving the way for the construction of a world-class transport park.
According to the Mayor, the project is a clear demonstration of the Governor’s commitment to positioning Nnewi North as one of Anambra State’s leading urban and economic centres.
“Governor Soludo is intentional about developing Nnewi North into a modern city. He directed us to clear Ugwuakpatiozu and facilitate the relocation of those operating at the Triangle so that an ultramodern transport park can be established there. This is the vision of the Oluatuegwu Governor at work,” Anazodo stated.
He noted that the proposed park is part of a broader urban renewal agenda aimed at improving transportation, easing traffic congestion, enhancing environmental sanitation, and creating a more attractive business environment for investors and residents alike.
The Mayor appealed to Ndi Nnewi to support the relocation process, assuring them that government has made provisions to address concerns arising from the transition.
“I sincerely appeal to our people to cooperate with this directive in the interest of collective progress. The Governor has assured us that an alternative and more suitable location will be designated for waste disposal, as Ugwuakpatiozu will no longer function as a dumpsite. While there may be temporary inconveniences, the long-term benefits will far outweigh them. When the project is completed, everyone will appreciate the foresight behind it,” he said.
Hon. Anazodo further emphasized that Governor Soludo’s vision of building a ‘Liveable and Prosperous Homeland’ is already taking shape across Nnewi North through ongoing infrastructure and urban renewal projects.
“The transformation is evident in our markets, roads, and public spaces. Governor Soludo is committed to sustainable development, and Nnewi North will continue to benefit from his administration’s people-oriented projects. Indeed, Solution is Here,” the Mayor concluded.
