The Anambra State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Arc. Okey Ezeobi, has inspected the Umudala gully erosion site in Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area(LGA), to assess the damage and explore sustainable measures to protect affected communities.
During the visit on Oct. 7, Arc. Ezeobi described the site as devastating and alarming, warning that the environmental crisis poses a serious threat to homes, infrastructure, livelihoods and residents’ safety.

He noted that the scale of the destruction was difficult to fully appreciate through photographs and videos, adding that seeing the situation firsthand underscored the severity of the challenge.
The commissioner said the inspection was intended to provide a clearer understanding of the situation, facilitate engagement with relevant technical authorities and identify lasting measures to contain the damage and safeguard the community.

The inspection team included the former Commissioner for Works in Anambra State, Engr. Marcel Ifejiofor, officials of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, and community leaders.
