The Anambra West Local Government Council has announced plans to officially commission newly acquired speed boats designed to improve water transportation, security, emergency response, and efficient public service delivery in riverine communities.
The commissioning ceremony, organized under the leadership of Mayor of Anambra West Local Government Area Hon. Mrs. Edith Nkeiru Ndive, is set for July 28, at Odotemaka Riverside, Nzam, starting by 10:00 a.m.
The event was anticipated to draw government officials, traditional rulers, stakeholders, community leaders, residents, and development partners. It will showcase the council’s commitment to delivering impactful projects that address local transportation issues.
Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, is expected to attend the occasion, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to infrastructural development, inclusive governance, and enhanced connectivity throughout riverine communities across the state.
Also expected at the event is the Anambra State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Edward Obiefuna Ibuzo. His presence will highlight the state’s commitment to strengthening transportation infrastructure and improving mobility throughout the state.
According to the council, the new speed boats will bolster security surveillance, facilitate emergency rescue operations, enhance healthcare access, promote educational outreach, and improve the overall movement of people and essential goods across waterways.
This initiative marks another significant step in the local government’s efforts to enhance residents’ welfare while supporting the Soludo administration’s vision for sustainable development and equitable service delivery across communities in Anambra State.
The council invites residents of Anambra West and members of the public to join the commissioning ceremony and witness this important advancement in transportation and development within the local government.
