In a significant effort to enhance local transportation and improve mobility throughout the council area, the Anambra West Local Government has officially launched a shuttle bus mass transit scheme.
The launch event, held on July 29 at the local government headquarters in Nzam, was attended by important stakeholders, including traditional rulers, transport union representatives, community leaders, and enthusiastic members of the public who welcomed this initiative.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Executive Chairman of Anambra West LGA, Hon. Fidelis Nnazor, highlighted that the shuttle bus project is a strategic initiative aimed at facilitating movement for residents, lowering transport costs, and boosting economic activity within the local government area.

He stressed that the scheme is designed with people in mind and aims to address the transportation needs of both rural and semi-urban areas.
“This modest but meaningful milestone underscores our collective commitment to grassroots empowerment, effective governance, and improved service delivery. These buses will not only enhance administrative mobility but also serve our communities in practical, visible ways,” Nnazor said.
The Anambra West Mayor further said, “This also demonstrates his administration’s commitment to supporting Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision for a smart and connected Anambra.” He assured the buses would operate with standardized fares, professional drivers, and rigorous safety protocols to ensure comfort and reliability for all passengers.

Commending Hon. Nnazor for a job well, some of the Stakeholders who spoke to information officer expressed gratitude to the council for launching this project, describing it as timely and impactful.
They expressed optimism that the initiative would ease daily transportation challenges, particularly for rural dwellers and local government staff.

The Deputy Mayor, Hon. Mrs. Edith Ndive, Secretary of Anambra West LGA, Hon. Mrs. Maureen Nwakasi, Anambra West LG congress of Councilors, former TC Chairmen, Hon. Daniel Ozoemena, Hon. Augustine Chukwura, APGA stakeholders, local council staff, among others attended the event.
