The Mayor of Anambra West Local Government Area, Mrs Edith Nkeiru Ndive, has urged newly deployed members of the National Youth Service Corps to uphold discipline, dedication, and patriotism throughout their service year.
Mrs. Ndive made the call on May 12, 2026, during a reception held at the Local Government Secretariat in Nzam to welcome Batch A Stream 2 corps members posted to the council area for their mandatory one-year national service. Accompanied by members of the management team, the Mayor welcomed the corps members and described their deployment as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to society through selfless service and community development initiatives.

She encouraged the corps members to remain law-abiding, focused, and committed to their duties, stressing that discipline and hard work are fundamental to both national development and personal growth.
Mrs. Ndive assured the corps members of the council administration’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for their service, adding that their welfare and security would be prioritized throughout the assignment.

Also addressing the gathering, the Supervisor for Education, Hon. Ikem Onyeka, reaffirmed the hospitality of the people of Anambra West and urged the corps members to feel at home and remain dedicated to serving their host communities.
Responding on behalf of the corps members, Adedeji Mary and Wilson Godwin expressed appreciation to the council leadership for the warm reception. They pledged to abide by the rules and regulations of the scheme and promised to discharge their responsibilities with dedication and professionalism.
The reception concluded with remarks from council officials, who reiterated the local government’s readiness to support the corps members throughout their stay in Anambra West.
