‎The Anambra State Government has unveiled plans to develop major tourism sites across the state into world-class destinations as part of efforts to boost tourism, stimulate the creative industry and drive economic growth.
‎

‎The Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Barr. Amedu Udoji, disclosed this during the “Ask the Commissioner” live programme on ABS Awka on July 23. Barr. Udoji said the Soludo administration’s Solution 2.0 agenda would consolidate and build upon the achievements recorded in the tourism sector during Solution 1.0, with renewed focus on expanding the state’s tourism potential.
‎
‎

He recalled that although Solution Fun City was not part of the government’s original development blueprint, Governor Chukwuma Soludo ensured its completion and operationalisation, transforming it into one of Anambra State’s leading tourism and recreational facilities.

‎According to the commissioner, natural attractions alone are insufficient to sustain a thriving tourism industry, stressing that destinations attain global recognition only when governments deliberately invest in supporting infrastructure, hospitality services and unique visitor experiences.
‎

‎He identified Ogbunike Cave and the Owere Ezukala Cave and Waterfalls as two of Anambra’s most valuable tourism assets, describing Owere Ezukala as one of the largest cave systems in Southern Africa in terms of size and length. Barr. Udoji noted that while both sites retain their natural appeal, unlocking their full tourism and economic potential requires deliberate investment in modern infrastructure, creative development and complementary recreational facilities.
‎

‎He revealed that the state government plans to transform Ogbunike Cave into a comprehensive tourism hub with luxury resorts, five-star hotels and other leisure facilities that will encourage visitors to spend more time in the state.
‎
‎
The commissioner added that similar development initiatives are being planned for Agulu Lake, expressing optimism that some of the proposed projects would be completed before the end of Governor Soludo’s Solution 2.0 administration.
‎

‎Speaking on the entertainment sector, Barr. Udoji announced a partnership with ANAWOOD to train emerging actors and other entertainment professionals. He also disclosed plans to introduce a Censorship Law aimed at regulating practitioners, promoting professionalism and improving tax compliance within the creative industry.
‎

‎The live programme was attended by the Commissioner for Information and Value Reorientation, Dr. Law Mefor, who made contributions on issues raised during the session. The interactive programme also featured telephone calls and messages from residents across the state.
