The Anambra State Government has set a 2030 target for achieving deeper digital transformation in governance, with plans to make technology a central part of public service delivery and strengthen the state’s digital economy.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Mr. Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, disclosed this during an online media engagement, explaining that the next phase of the state’s digital transformation would focus on expanding e-governance, strengthening the technology infrastructure supporting government operations.
According to Agbata, the long-term vision is to make digital platforms a major channel through which residents access government services, reducing paperwork, shortening processing time and making public services more convenient and accessible.
The digital agenda, however, extends beyond government services. The ICT Agency is collaborating with the Ministry of Commerce to support the integration of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly businesses operating in major markets across the state, into the formal digital economy.
Agbata explained that bringing more businesses into the digital space would create opportunities for them to formalise their operations, access emerging digital services, and participate more effectively in the state’s growing technology driven economy.
He said the digital transformation agenda would focus on three broad areas which include government institutions, businesses and Ndi Anambra with the objective of using technology to improve public administration, expand economic opportunities and make everyday interactions with government easier for residents.
The initiative is expected to position Anambra as a technology driven state, where digital innovation supports efficient governance, business growth and inclusive economic development.
