Anambra State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development (MPPUD) has warned members of the public against paying assessment fees into private bank accounts, describing such demands as fraudulent and unauthorised.
In a public notice issued by the ministry, it stated categorically that it does not instruct any person to pay assessment fees into a private account.
The ministry clarified that for the avoidance of doubt, every legitimate assessment fee demand issued by the ministry must be in writing, properly dated, and duly signed by the authorised issuing officer.
It added that assessment fee demands communicated solely through text messages, WhatsApp messages, or other informal channels are not official directives of the ministry.
“Members of the public are strongly advised to beware of fraudsters and to verify any assessment fee demands with the ministry through the appropriate official phone numbers: 09021100004, 07065193618, before making any payment.
“The ministry further warns: do not pay into any private account on the strength of an unsolicited message,” the statement said.
The the statement therefore advised the public to take note and be guided accordingly.
