The Anambra State Government has intensified efforts to reclaim public transportation parks occupied by private individuals, with the Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Edward Ibuzo, leading an enforcement operation across Onitsha on Oct. 14.

The exercise followed previous notices directing occupants to vacate government owned properties and comply with the state’s directives.

During the operation, the commissioner and his team inspected affected parks to assess compliance and enforce the government’s position on the use of public transportation facilities.

Some parks were sealed for failure to comply with the notices, while other occupants were granted additional time to vacate the properties.

The exercise forms part of the Ministry of Transport’s efforts to restore government control over public parks, improve their management and ensure that the facilities serve their intended transportation purposes.

The team engaged affected occupants, emphasising the need to respect government directives and comply with regulations governing the operation of public parks.

The ministry urged park operators and other stakeholders to cooperate with enforcement teams, stressing that proper management of public facilities is essential to promoting orderliness and accountability in Anambra State’s transportation sector.
