The Anambra State Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources on June 26 honoured its Permanent Secretary, Mr. Adebayo Ojeyinka, at a retirement ceremony marking the conclusion of his distinguished career in the civil service upon attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60.
The colourful event brought together government officials, colleagues, friends, and well-wishers to celebrate Mr. Ojeyinka’s years of dedicated service to Anambra State.
Chairing the ceremony, the Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Prof. Charles Ofoegbu, described the retiree as a hardworking, committed, and exemplary civil servant whose contributions greatly advanced the ministry’s mandate.

Prof. Ofoegbu said he was privileged to have worked closely with Mr. Ojeyinka over the years, describing him as a trusted colleague, dependable project partner, and close friend. He commended the retiring Permanent Secretary for his professionalism, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to duty, noting that he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues both within and outside the ministry.
The commissioner also praised Mr. Ojeyinka for serving Anambra State with exceptional dedication despite not being an indigene of the state, adding that his integrity and selfless service have left an enduring legacy.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Jerome Ilokwu, described public service as an opportunity to build one’s curriculum vitae through character, dedication, and performance. He urged civil servants to strive to leave lasting positive legacies wherever they serve.
According to him, Mr. Ojeyinka’s career stands as a model of excellence, integrity, and commitment, adding that his outstanding record of service should inspire younger officers in the civil service.
Also speaking, Barr. Nonso Henry Nwebiri described Mr. Ojeyinka as a man of integrity whose exemplary character earned him the admiration and respect of many. He prayed for God’s continued guidance, protection, good health, and fulfilment as the retiree embarks on a new phase of life.
Responding, Mr. Ojeyinka expressed gratitude to God for His faithfulness throughout his career and thanked the commissioner, management, members of staff, colleagues, friends, and well-wishers for their unwavering support and cooperation over the years.
The ceremony also featured goodwill messages from colleagues, associates, and invited guests, who paid glowing tributes to the retiring Permanent Secretary, applauding his exemplary leadership, humility, and many years of meritorious service.
