By Ebele Egoh

The Anambra State Hospital Administrator, Dr. Frank Ifeanaeme has called on residents to maintain proper hygiene and adopt preventive measures against infectious diseases.

Dr. Ifeanaeme gave the advice while responding to questions from an information desk officer at his office in Enugwu-Ukwu, emphasizing the importance of preventive healthcare in safeguarding public health across the state.

According to him, maintaining clean surroundings, regular handwashing, access to clean water, proper sanitation, and safe food handling practices can significantly reduce the spread of diseases such as malaria, Lassa fever, yellow fever, and other communicable illnesses.

He urged health workers to intensify community sensitization and public education campaigns aimed at promoting disease prevention and healthier lifestyles among residents.

The Hospital Administrator stressed the need to utilize different communication channels, including radio, television, churches, markets, and social media platforms, to effectively educate the public on healthy living and ways to prevent disease outbreaks.

Dr. Ifeanaeme advised residents against unnecessary panic over the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, assuring them that the Anambra State Government has put adequate measures in place to safeguard public health and ensure the safety of residents.

He commended the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, for the reforms introduced in the health sector, noting that the training of health workers on Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) has strengthened the state’s preparedness to respond to infectious disease threats.

He reassured residents that there is no cause for alarm, encouraging continued vigilance and adherence to recommended health guidelines.
