The Anambra State Government has taken notice of a publication by M.O. Idam (Esq), as reported by some online news outlets, containing baseless claims that Governor Chukwuma Soludo renamed Abakaliki Street to Club Street. We categorically state that these allegations are false and without merit.

Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor clarified in a statement in Awka that Abakaliki Street was renamed under former Governor Willie Obiano’s administration, not Governor Soludo’s. He criticized the legal practitioner for spreading unverified claims, saying it’s unbecoming of someone in the profession.

The statement further advised M.O. Idam (Esq) to retract his statement, emphasizing that individuals of integrity and honor typically acknowledge and correct their mistakes.

” Government reassured the citizens that Governor Soludo would continue to exercise his authority responsibly, in line with the mandate bestowed upon him by the people. This responsible governance has yielded significant benefits, including the absence of borrowing, and has sparked widespread calls for Governor Soludo’s reelection on November 8, 2025.”

Moreover, the statement urged M.O. Idam (Esq) to focus on issues pertinent to his own state, if he indeed exists and is not a fictional entity, rather than disseminating misinformation about Anambra State.
