The immediate past Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Chief Ify Obinabo, has expressed deep appreciation to Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo, for the opportunity to serve the people of Anambra State.
Speaking in a TikTok video released in Awka, Obinabo thanked Governor Soludo for what she described as his unwavering support throughout her tenure in office.
She also acknowledged the wife of the governor and Convener of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo initiative, Dr. Nonye Soludo, for her support during her time in government.
Reflecting on her years in office, Obinabo said the position became more than a political appointment, describing it as a personal mission dedicated to defending the weak and restoring hope to vulnerable citizens whose voices are often unheard.
“I stand before you with a heart full of gratitude, reflection and unshaken hope,” she said.
According to her, serving as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare remains one of the greatest honours of her life, as it provided her the opportunity to advocate for women, protect children and support struggling families across the state.
“To be entrusted with the responsibility of amplifying the voices of the vulnerable, defending the dignity of women, protecting our children and standing in the gap for the voiceless has not just been an office; it has been a calling,” she said.
Obinabo praised Governor Soludo for entrusting her with the responsibility of serving the state at what she described as a critical period in Anambra’s development.
“I want to sincerely thank the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, for the confidence he reposed in me and for the opportunity to serve our dear state,” she noted.
“Thank you, Mr. Governor, for the political will you provided, which became the secret of my success. Your support and encouragement are indescribable,” she added.
She maintained that her humanitarian service would continue beyond government office, assuring women groups, vulnerable citizens and supporters that her passion for justice and dignity remains strong.
“Let me say this clearly: this is not the end of the journey, it is only a transition. The fight for justice, equity and dignity for the voiceless is a thing of the heart, and my heart remains fully committed.
“Stepping away from office does not mean stepping away from service. I may be leaving this platform, but I am not leaving the cause.”
Obinabo further said that she would continue advocating for the vulnerable through other platforms.
“I am moving to a different platform; one that will continue to advocate, speak, act and defend those who need it most.
“Anambra will be better. Our women will be stronger. Our children will be safer. And the voiceless will never be forgotten,” she declared.
She also congratulated the incoming Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Chief Mrs. Esther Chinyere Onyekesi, urging her to build on the achievements already recorded in the ministry.
Describing the office as both challenging and rewarding, Obinabo encouraged the incoming commissioner to sustain and strengthen efforts aimed at protecting women and children in the state.
“To my dear sister, Mrs. Esther Chinyere Onyekesi, I extend my warmest congratulations. The task ahead is great, but so is the opportunity to make a lasting difference.
“I encourage you to build on the foundation laid and to go even further,” she added.
