As the world marks World Population Day on July 11, the Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable population growth through continued investment in healthcare, education and the overall wellbeing of its citizens.
World Population Day draws global attention to population dynamics, access to family planning and quality healthcare. It also serves as a reminder that people are the greatest asset for sustainable economic and social development.
Under the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Anambra has strengthened its healthcare system through sustained investment in primary healthcare, bringing maternal, child, and reproductive health services closer to communities across the state’s 21 Local Government Areas(LGA).
The Anambra State Ministry of Health has continued to expand access to reproductive healthcare and family planning services, enabling individuals and families to make informed decisions that support healthier households and stronger communities.
Complementing these efforts, the Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has continued to champion initiatives focused on maternal wellbeing, child survival and nutrition, in line with the state’s vision of building healthier families and promoting sustainable development.
The Soludo administration maintains that sustainable population growth extends beyond demographic figures and requires deliberate investment in education, healthcare, job creation, and youth empowerment to improve the quality of life for all residents.
In pursuit of this goal, the government has continued to implement people-centred policies aimed at reducing preventable maternal and child deaths, improving access to healthcare services, ensuring that no community is left behind in service delivery
As part of this year’s observance, residents have been encouraged to make use of family planning and reproductive health services available at government healthcare facilities, as a means of promoting healthier families and a more prosperous society.
The Anambra State Government joined the international community in commemorating World Population Day 2026, reaffirming its resolve to build a healthy, educated, and empowered population capable of driving lasting prosperity.
