The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, will hold a series of security stakeholders’ interactive sessions across the three senatorial districts of the state as part of efforts to strengthen community-based policing and improve security collaboration. The initiative is in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police to deepen community policing and enhance strategic partnerships in tackling security challenges.
In a statement issued to journalists on August 11, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the meetings would bring together traditional rulers, local government chairmen, presidents-general, youth leaders, women leaders, religious leaders, market leaders and other critical stakeholders.
According to him, the sessions are aimed at providing a platform for stakeholders to deliberate on prevailing security concerns, promote intelligence-led policing and strengthen community participation in crime prevention and public safety.
The first session will hold at Anaedo Hall, Nnewi, for stakeholders from Anambra South Senatorial District on August 12, by 12 noon while Anambra North Senatorial District session is scheduled for August 13, at Umueri Civic Centre by 12 noon, whereas for Anambra Central Senatorial District will take place on August 14, at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.
The Commissioner of Police urged all invited stakeholders to attend and actively participate in the engagements, which he said were designed to foster stronger collaboration between the police and communities in addressing security challenges and sustaining peace across Anambra State.
