Residents of Odoakpu in Onitsha South Local Government Area of Anambra on Sept. 26, participated in a community sanitation exercise sponsored by Hon. James Ibezimako Akpudo.
The exercise involved the clearing of accumulated refuse and other environmental waste from parts of the community.
Akpudo, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Onitsha South Constituency II in the 2027 Anambra State House of Assembly election, said the initiative was aimed at improving environmental sanitation and promoting public health.
He said the exercise would be sustained regularly until the challenge of accumulated refuse in Odoakpu was significantly addressed.
Akpudo said maintaining a clean environment required the collective efforts of residents, community leaders and other stakeholders.
Some residents and constituents who witnessed the exercise commended the initiative, saying it addressed an environmental challenge in the community.
Akpudo urged residents to support efforts to keep Odoakpu clean, stressing that environmental sanitation was a shared responsibility.
