The Anambra State Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr. Casmir Agummadu, has charged staff of the ministry to embrace teamwork, dedication and professionalism in order to achieve the ministry’s mandate and advance the development agenda of the Anambra State Government.
Agummadu gave the charge during a meeting with staff of the ministry at its headquarters in Awka.
Addressing the workers, the Commissioner stressed that the success of the ministry depends largely on the commitment and dedication of its workforce, describing staff members as the driving force behind the ministry’s operations.

He noted that while heads of departments provide leadership and direction, meaningful results can only be achieved through the collective efforts of diligent and cooperative staff.
The Commissioner assured workers that his office remains open to constructive suggestions, innovative ideas and feedback capable of improving the ministry’s performance and service delivery.

According to him, the active participation of young professionals in the ministry’s activities is encouraging and gives hope for the future growth of the power, water and fire service sectors in the state.
Agummadu stated that the ministry remains committed to ensuring the provision of potable water across Anambra State, expanding access to electricity in communities and strengthening the capacity of the Fire Service Department to respond effectively to emergencies.
He urged staff to see the ministry as their own institution and remain steadfast in the discharge of their responsibilities, emphasizing that dedication, hard work and integrity do not go unrewarded.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Victor Ezekwo, commended the Commissioner for his accessibility, openness and commitment to repositioning the ministry for improved efficiency and productivity.
Ezekwo noted that the ministry’s three core departments Power, Water and Fire Service are working collaboratively towards realizing the vision of the Anambra State Government through improved access to electricity and potable water, as well as enhanced emergency response services.
Speaking on behalf of the staff, Mr. Onyechi Anyaegbuna and Mr. Kingsley Nwabueze of the Anambra State Fire Service expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for engaging directly with workers, describing the interaction as unprecedented and highly motivating.
They also commended him for visiting several fire stations across the state shortly after assuming office, describing the visits as a demonstration of his commitment to the welfare of personnel and the improvement of service delivery.
The officers appealed for improved office accommodation, better working conditions, increased manpower and the provision of operational equipment to enhance productivity and efficiency.
They assured the Commissioner of their unwavering support and cooperation in achieving the ministry’s goals.
Other staff members who spoke during the meeting, including Engr. Fimber Ajegbu, Engr. Luke Egwuatu, Engr. Chibuike Michael and Engr. Uchenna Iwuchukwu, emphasized the need for improved staff welfare, regular training and retraining programmes, and the provision of modern electrical and water-testing equipment to enhance service delivery.
The meeting provided a platform for management and staff to discuss operational challenges, share ideas and reaffirm their commitment to advancing the ministry’s mandate in line with the administration of Gov. Chukwuma Soludo.
