The Aguata Local Government, in collaboration with the leadership of Eke Ekwulobia Ultra-Modern Market, has announced the opening of a designated relief motor park aimed at easing traffic congestion within and around the busy commercial hub.
In a public notice, the authorities directed all operators of motorcycles (Okada), tricycles (Keke), and other vehicles to desist from parking indiscriminately within the market vicinity. They are to make exclusive use of the newly established Eke Ekwulobia Relief Motor Park, now designated for all transport activities in the area.
The directive, according to the statement, is part of ongoing efforts to restore order, as indiscriminate parking has contributed significantly to traffic gridlock and disruption of business activities for traders and customers alike.
Authorities further stated that enforcement of the directive is with immediate effect and the Aguata Local Government Enforcement Team has been directed to ensure strict compliance, and defaulters will be sanctioned accordingly.
While urging transport operators and the general public to cooperate, the council emphasised that the initiative is geared towards improving traffic flow, enhancing safety, and creating a more organised market environment.
