A new chapter has begun in Ifite Anam Autonomous Community following the official inauguration and swearing-in of newly constituted Town Union executive by the Traditional Ruler, HRH, Igwe S.U. Ozoemena (Oranyelu I).
The ceremony, held at Iyiora Anam Civic Centre, witnessed the formal assumption of office by the new leadership team led by Sir Joseph Onuora Udoba (KSM), as President General. The event marked a significant milestone for the community, which had operated without a traditional ruler for the past four years.

The swearing-in ceremony featured the administration of the Oath of Office and Allegiance, followed by the presentation of certificates of office to the newly elected executive. A formal handover was also conducted by the immediate past President General, Comrade Chukwujekwu Offordile, symbolizing a smooth transition of leadership.
In his address, Igwe Ozoemena emphasized the importance of synergy among key community leadership structures, noting that the presence of the Traditional Ruler, President General, Youth Leader, and Woman Leader completes the “four pillars” necessary for effective grassroots governance and sustainable development.
Highlighting the importance of community governance, the Monarch described town union as a vital administrative bridge between the government and the people, often regarded as a de facto fourth tier of governance in Igboland. He charged the new executive to prioritize peace building, community development, and collaboration with government authorities.
The event also witnessed the inauguration of the newly elected Youth Executive, led by Comrade Dennis Obiora Okoye, further strengthening the leadership structure of the community.
As part of the ceremony, awards of excellence were presented to deserving individuals, including the Chief Security Officer of Ifite Anam Autonomous Community, in recognition of outstanding service in maintaining peace and security.
In a major announcement, the traditional ruler unveiled a 44 member cabinet drawn from the various component communities of Ifite Anam, aimed at fostering inclusive governance and broad-based representation, and used the occasion to invite friends, indigenes, and well-wishers to his maiden Ofala Festival, scheduled to hold on April 7, at Community Primary School, Mmiata Anam, by 12 noon.
With the full complement of leadership structures now in place, expectations are high that the new administration will focus on resolving communal disputes, enhancing security, managing development projects, and effectively representing the interests of Ifite Anam at both local and state levels.
The inauguration marks a renewed sense of unity, purpose, and optimism for the people of Ifite Anam as they embark on a new era of growth and progress.
