Vulnerable households in Awka South Local Government Area(LGA) of Anambra State have received food relief materials through a humanitarian intervention by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

The distribution exercise, held at the Awka South Local Government Secretariat on June 25, was aimed at providing relief to vulnerable families grappling with the country’s prevailing economic challenges.

Speaking during the event, the Chairman of Awka South LGA, Prince Chinedu Okafor, commended KSrelief, NEMA and SEMA for extending the intervention to residents of the LGA,  describing the initiative as timely and impactful, noting that it would help cushion the effects of the current economic hardship on many households.

Prince Okafor expressed appreciation to the organisers for selecting Awka South as the host local government for the exercise, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to supporting programmes that improve the welfare and living conditions of residents.

The LGA chairman advised beneficiaries to make judicious use of the relief items, stressing that the intervention was designed to reduce hardship and improve the quality of life of vulnerable members of the community.

The beneficiaries received food packages containing 25-kilogramme bags of rice, 25-kilogramme bags of beans and cartons of assorted condiments. The gesture was met with excitement and gratitude from recipients.

One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Onyemuche Nwankwo, expressed appreciation to the Federal Government, the Anambra State Government and KSrelief for facilitating the humanitarian support, describing the intervention as a welcome relief for struggling families.

Another beneficiary, Mrs. Ifeoma Akuchukwu, commended the Awka South Local Government Chairman for ensuring that the programme reached people at the grassroots, praying for God’s strength and wisdom for him as he serve the people.
